The sandbox…

August 1, 2012

AAM’s newest project has been completed.  After much research, and comparing a variety of different sandboxes, AAM came up with this beautiful design.

Nestled under the crab apple tree, AAM’s sandbox has a convenient lid that blends in with the seat. He built the sandbox in the same way he built the raised beds. Using cedar, which does not leach, he joined the corners with decking brackets. The middle of each plank is secured with a post that goes about a foot in the ground. Unlike the beds, underneath the sand is a gauze tarp. The lid is the nine inner boards evenly spaced half an inch in between each, so water won’t pool, with the two handles to make for easy lifting.  Once you lift the lid……

There is a plank for seating and room for any child ages 1-99 to play!
