Project: Food Budget, Week 9

March 17, 2011

So, things have been a little crazy in our house this week. After a long walk on Sunday morning, we stumbled across a house we are interested in buying. This accelerated our need to get the house ready for the market. Living in chaos, we have retreated to various eating establishments such as P. Brennans and Lost Dog Cafe to help us through. By the way, one of the best veggie burgers in Arlington is the chickpea burger from P. Brennans. We are so busy, that I think we even skipped a couple of meals.  I know, I hate when people say that they forgot to eat, but seriously that is how busy we have been. Coupled the stress of packing and looking at houses with grading, report cards being due, and my school asking me give a special class on African Studies for parents, and lets just say that cooking did not happen. There doesn’t seem to be relief for the next week, but tonight, we will enjoy an Irish stew.

Due to the chaos, there was no grocery shopping for us. We had a big delivery from Washington’s Green Grocer. So we are working through that, and I imagine we will have a bunch left over for next week. In big news for the upcoming week, it is Serafina’s first birthday! I am hoping to post some fun recipes in honor of that.
