Broccolini, Broccolini!

August 21, 2010

If you have never tried it, broccolini is a tasty vegetable to add to your meal rotation. Packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, and Iron, the vegetable is a fantastic food. It is best served simply, as the stalks are rich and the flower wonderful. I have added the leaves to a pasta sauce, and it added an amazing surprising slight bitterness. For this recipe, I trim the bottoms and peel the leaves. Cook it similar to broccoli, but making the flowers crispy is particularly yummy (Rasika serves it this way).

This is an incredibly easy recipe, perhaps too simple, but as I said it is a great one for your rotation.

Spicy Broccolini

  • 1 bunch of Broccolini
  • 1 tb Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 tb Olive Oil
  • 2 tb Pecorino Romano

Preheat oven at 375
Combine the broccolini, red pepper flakes, and olive oil  into an ovensafe pan, mix together

Cook for 20 minutes, or until the brocollini darkens and the heads are slightly crispy.

Sprinkle Pecorino Romano Cheese on top
